For our May story we talked to our beautiful talent Ibukun Sammy. We asked her six question which you can find below.
1. How did you become a model
The journey began while I was in school. A fourteen year old kid in the boarding house who had never heard anything about modeling. My height was awkward for most of my peers which made me so uncomfortable and sometimes wished I was normal (being of equal height). On this fateful day in 2014 I was called upon to come receive a call from my dad.
He said there’s a competition he heard on the radio and he believed I stood a chance of winning.
The modeling competition was called Pearl Look Model competition which I won but wasn’t crowned due to the fact that I was very young. This competition got me ready for the world ahead and thanks to God for the family I have. They were on the lookout for any other opportunities for me to get established because they believed in me. Fast forward to 2016, another opportunity came by in form of Nigeria’s Next Super Model (NNSM) founded Mrs. Joan Okorodudu.
I enrolled to be a part of the competition which I won and became the ultimate foundation for the model I am today.

2. Tell Us 3 Things That Makes You Unique
1) God’s grace which I am unapologetically unabashed about.
2) The fact that I live to be me without a sense of competition
3) Truth is, it’s an herculean task trying to figure out what makes me different from others other than the fact that there can never be another Ibukunoluwa Sammy and I’m going to live to leave a legacy in that name.
3. If You Were A Food, What Would It be?
If a food, I’ll be a fruit, a Kiwi fruit in particular. When I first saw it I was never drawn to it till the day I tried it.
I could relate to it because people see me from afar and not get the real picture till they get close. In addition, fruits don’t just die off because the seeds gets buried and live again.

4. What Job Did Your Parents Envision For You?
My parents were just so different. I feel blessed having them because they have always been supportive of this career choice of mine. So supportive that my mom was my designated chauffeur to every castings and shows I needed to go for. I feel blessed to be birthed into the family of the Sammy’s.
5.What Would You Get Up For In The Middle Of The Night?
My mom’s call. I’ve grown so attached to her that every moment possible to bridge the gap is a welcome moment.
6. Do You Have A Favorite Piece Of Clothing?
My Levi’s Strauss denim men’s pants. To have thought I got it from a thrift market in Lagos. Gosh I love it, it’s so comfortable and I’ve worn it to almost everywhere and anywhere possible.
