TALENT OF JUNE – Elisabetta Dessy
For June we had a very special interview with our wonderful talent Elisabetta and asked her some questions about her life and career that you can get to know her a little bit better.
1. How did you become a model?
After the Olympic Games I went to Sardinia with my parents and while walking with my father a very important talent scout stopped me asking for some pictures of me with his Polaroid. I gave him my phone number and after a few weeks I did my first fitting in Via Gregoriana, in Rome, with a very young Valentino, and that was the start of my career.
2. What is the most spontaneous thing you’ve ever done?
The most spontaneous thing I have ever done was helping the priest of the church close to my place to help homeless and people that live on the streets. I decided to work for the church a few days per week, bringing also my two sons, cooking for homeless, to teach them the importance of helping people, always.
3. What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice I have ever received was from my mother! She said once ” Elisabetta, please, be always kind and polite with everyone, help people in need and smile, smile always also when life it’s hard and seems to be difficult and strong.” This is the best advice I’ve ever received and I always remember it.
4. If you could choose to do what ever you want for a day, what would that be?
Well, im 65 and I’m lucky to decide for myself to do whatever I want. Starting modeling again, after 45 years, has been quite challenging and time is always very organised, fixed and strict. If I have the possibility and time for 24 magical hours, for sure I would like to spend the whole day in the most prestigious and beautiful beauty spa in the world and enjoy the calm.
5. What is your favorite thing about your career?
I strongly believe that one of the most favorite things about this job and my career is to have the chance to travel around the world, meeting new people and professionals and new cultures. I’m always happy to travel also with colleagues discovering the spots where we shoot campaigns and film ads.
6. Who is/was the biggest influence in your life and why?
From the very beginning of my life, I had a huge influence from sport! Indeed being a swimming athlete gave me the discipline, helped me to be strong and to focus on the important things without waisting time. It has been really hard but thanks to this influence and training to fatigue, I had the possibility to deal with the difficult moments in my life.
7. What is your go-to guilty pleasure?
My guilty pleasure is to eat as much pasta as I can, especially Amatriciana ( a typical Italian sauce) quite heavy but delicious. It’s a guilty pleasure that ends always with a scarpetta – and if you don’t know what’s a scarpetta, you have to book a table to an Italian restaurant in your city and ask for bread to do the scarpetta!
