TALENT OF THE MONTH – Yumi Lambert
in the last month of the year we want to introduce you to our wonderful talent Yumi so you can get to know her a little better.
1. How did you become a model?
I was first scouted by a Belgian agency when I was around 15 years old. The following year, once I was able to work internationally, I was doing a fitting for Fendi in Italy when Karl Lagerfeld himself approached me while I was getting my hair and makeup done. He asked for my comp card, and for me, that was the true beginning of my modeling career. It was an incredible and unexpected moment for my younger self.
2. What’s your favorite way to spend a day off?
I recently got into climbing, and I’m lucky to have a climbing gym right downstairs from my place in Paris. I love heading there early in the morning and challenging myself to conquer what I couldn’t the day before.
An ideal day off would also include a long Japanese cooking session at home. My grandmother always encouraged me to master Japanese cuisine, and food has always played a big role in my family.
3. What goal do you want to accomplish in the next few years?
After years of frequent travel and living abroad, I’ve recently settled in Paris to embrace a more grounded lifestyle. This shift has inspired me to consider opening a food venue in the city. Hospitality is a passion of mine, and it’s something I’ve always wanted to explore.
Maybe this dream will come to life in the next few years!
4. What is the best compliment you’ve ever received?
In my late teens, I had the privilege of working in Japan and met several teams in the fashion industry there. When we discussed my origins and my knowledge of Japanese culture, I was often told that my understanding was very accurate. This has always been a great source of pride for me. Japanese culture has always brought me a sense of calm, and being recognized for embracing it meant a lot.
5. What is your favorite thing about your career?
I think my favorite thing is the opportunity to travel to so many different places and learn from diverse cultures around the world. Coming from a small town in Belgium, having an international career has been an incredible stroke of luck for me, and I’m grateful for the experiences it has brought.
6. If you could time travel, when and where would you go?
That’s a tricky question! If I could time travel, I’d definitely want to explore as many different eras as possible—just to see if everything I learned in history class was accurate!
7. Whats your favorite type of cuisine?
Japanese ! I think that one was clear since the second question 🙂
