TALENT OF THE MONTH – Nyangath Lual
Lovely Nyangath is now placed with us in Germany and we are very happy to have her here. November is all in the name of her and we wanted to show you more about her world.
1. How did you become a model?
My modeling career began unexpectedly when I was hacked on Instagram. All four-hundred people I followed at the time received a random spam message, including my current mother agent who inquired about my interest in modeling. I’ve dreamed of becoming a model since I was twelve, but growing up in Minnesota, the opportunities were limited. However, just two months after the hack, at the age of eighteen, I got signed and moved to New York City. This experience reinforced my belief that what’s meant for you will always find a way to reach you.
2. If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?
If I could do anything for a day, I would join a classical orchestra and perform Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 3. I’ve been a violinist for over a decade, and while I now play solely for enjoyment, I truly miss the exhilarating experience of performing alongside a spirited orchestra.
3. What is the best compliment that you’ve ever received?
The best compliment I’ve ever received is “I love the way you think.” I connect most with people on an emotionally intellectual level and desire to understand the multitude of unique perspectives. So naturally it makes me very giddy when anyone compliments my mindset.
4. Would you say you’re more of an extrovert or an introvert?
I am undoubtedly an extrovert and easily enthralled by the beauty of human connection. However, the older I get the more I require space to reflect and learn about myself too.
5. What is your favorite thing about your career?
My favorite aspect of my career is the endless opportunity to collaborate with creative industry visionaries. I also appreciate that no two days are ever the same and each week brings its own distinctive experiences.
6. What goal do you want to accomplish in the next few years?
My greatest goal is to fully retire my mother. She is a true warrior who has faced the challenges of fleeing war-torn South Sudan and navigating life in the U.S. without my father. Despite everything she’s endured, she navigates life with a smile and endless gratitude. The least I can do is provide her the opportunity to rest and enjoy her life to the fullest.
7. What is your go-to guilty pleasure?
My guilty pleasure is binge reading. When I find a new novel or series I genuinely like, I’ll spend an insane amount of time reading in one day so I have to be careful about picking up new books. My favorite genres are war/political fiction, ancient history, and modern philosophy.
